Racing Techniques is part instruction and part regatta. Each day you will learn a different lesson about fleet racing, and then you’ll get to test your skills in a regatta format.
We offer two levels of instruction for the Racing Technique program, RT for ages 12 and up and RT Lite for ages 10 and up. For both levels, the students must already be skilled sailors and have successfully completed Sailing Three.
Using our fleet of single-handed, high-performance RS Zests for the RT sailors and the Tera’s for the RT Lite sailors, you’ll be in solo command of your own boat. We conduct as many short-course races as time and wind allow. On the final day we award the Tod’s Point Cup to the top scorer. It’s a week of fun and excitement and the culmination of our summer season for juniors.
Our watchful, certified, instructor/coaches provide on-the-spot feedback between races. You gain valuable experience, confidence, and helpful advice every day.
“RT” is a course many of our juniors look forward to all year long. Most enroll again and again. It is a perennial sell-out. Space is strictly limited, so we recommend enrolling early to secure a spot.
RT is not a Core Course, so there is no text and no final exam. But you do need to be an experienced sailor with a minimum weight of 95 lbs. Completion of Sailing Three is a prerequisite minimum. Sailing Four is strongly recommended.
